Action planning becomes Behavior Change

One hub where learners commit to specific behaviors, practice them in 30-day cycles, and track follow-through week by week.

July 22, 2026 Courses & trainingFacilitation

In an upcoming release, action planning in LeaderFactor becomes the Behavioral Change Center: one hub where learners choose specific behaviors, practice them over 30 days, and track follow-through week by week. This is a significant update, so this post covers whether your organization is affected, what changes for each role, and how the new center works.

Am I affected?

It depends on which LeaderFactor products your organization uses.

Not affected: nothing changes for you. Organizations using a legacy Psychological Safety program, a legacy EQ program, or a SCORM deployment keep their current experience exactly as it is today: courses, plans, check-ins, and reports. There is no sunset date for your current system and nothing you or your learners need to do. Questions? Contact your CSM.

Affected from the release date. Organizations on current LeaderFactor product lines receive the update automatically. Here’s what changes, role by role.

What changes for facilitators

First, the timing: the update is scheduled for an open window when no facilitated workshops are running, so it will not land mid-session or between a session and its wrap-up.

  • Course slides and facilitator notes are updated with the new terminology. If you present the official decks, you’ll simply have the current materials the next time you present. Official decks stay maintained by LeaderFactor. If your organization created its own deck versions, you’ll be notified of each change and can adopt the updates without losing your customizations. See Present course materials.
  • Structurally, only one lesson changes: the Action Plan Debrief becomes Commitment Prioritization. Instead of the “Schedule & Submit Action Plan” wrap-up, participants review the behaviors they flagged during the course and confirm up to three commitments to start practicing.
  • Everything else about running a workshop stays the same.

What changes for administrators

Honestly, very little for now. The update arrives automatically. There is nothing to enable or configure. Reporting for behavioral change is coming in a future release; we’ll announce it here when it ships.

What changes for learners

  • A new Behavioral Change item appears in the navigation, with a short introduction the first time it’s opened. No training needed.
  • Courses now end with the Commitment Prioritization lesson described above.
  • A simple weekly rhythm arrives with it: a Monday planning reminder and a Friday reflection reminder by email.
  • Existing behaviors are migrated automatically. Nothing is lost, and there is nothing to re-enter.

Inside the Behavioral Change Center

The center replaces three separate pieces of the old experience (action plans written inside courses, habit tracking, and the behaviors summary on Home) with one place built around commitments: specific, doable behavior statements in the form “When X, I will Y.” Statements tied to a real moment in the day outperform vague goals, and people follow through best working on a few behaviors at a time for about 30 days. The center is that research, built into the product.

Commitments, not lists

Learners choose behaviors from LeaderFactor’s behavior library, from a course they’ve taken, or written in their own words with a little AI assistance to shape them into a “When X, I will Y” statement. Each one becomes a commitment.

Three at a time

At most three commitments are active at once. A slot meter shows where you stand, and everything else waits in the backlog until a slot opens. Fewer things, done consistently, beats a long list you never look at.

30-day cycles

Each active commitment runs for 30 days: long enough to make a behavior stick, short enough to stay focused. When a cycle ends, the learner gets a congratulations email with their check-in count and average score, and can extend the commitment for another 30 days as many times as they’d like.

Plan Monday, reflect Friday

Mondays, look at the week ahead and note where each commitment will matter. Fridays, look back, score yourself from 0 to 5, and jot down what you noticed. Email reminders arrive for both, and every learner controls them in their notification settings. Missing one isn’t punished. A Monday plan can be made up through Thursday, and a Friday reflection over the weekend.

Share your progress

Learners can share their center with specific people as peers or as their manager, who see active commitments and can cheer them on with congrats, nudges, and notes. Sharing is always by name, with no public links, and the learner can change it at any time.

Courses feed the center

Behaviors identified during a course are saved to the backlog as the learner goes, so the Commitment Prioritization lesson at the end is a real decision: pick up to three, leave the course with a plan already running.

For managers

When a team member shares their center at the manager level, you see their active commitments and can leave encouragement. Once a week you’ll also be asked for a short private review of each shared commitment: did you observe the behavior, a 0 to 5 score, and an optional note. Your review is never shown to the team member. It exists to give your organization an honest, independent signal on whether behavior is really changing. A Friday email reminds you when a review is due.

What happens to existing action plans

They come along automatically. When the Behavioral Change Center launches, the previous action-planning experience is retired and existing behaviors are migrated into the new system as commitments. Nothing is lost, and there is nothing for learners to do before or after the release.

Frequently asked questions

Do learners need training on the new center? No. The center introduces itself on first visit, and the weekly rhythm takes about five minutes each. Your CSM can also share a short walkthrough with your team.

Will learners get more email? The rhythm is similar to today: Monday and Friday reminders, plus occasional notifications like a 30-day completion or a note from a teammate. Every learner controls their own notification settings from within the center.

Can a learner work on more than three commitments? Not at the same time. The limit is deliberate and one of the most research-backed parts of the design. Additional commitments wait in the backlog; activating one when all three slots are full means pausing another first.

Can managers see everything a learner does? No. Managers see only what a learner has shared, at the level the learner granted. Managers’ weekly reviews go the other direction. They’re private from the learner.

Why isn’t my legacy Psychological Safety, EQ, or SCORM program getting this? The Behavioral Change Center is built into the platform experience of our newer product lines, and we’re keeping your current program stable rather than changing it mid-stream. There is no sunset date for your current system. If you’d like to explore what the current product lines could look like for your organization, your CSM can start that conversation.

Is the Behavioral Change Center an add-on? No. It’s included in existing subscriptions for the product lines that receive it.
