Run a qualitative analysis
Turn the open-text answers on an assessment into a headline and a short list of ranked findings.
Every assessment with open-text questions collects more writing than anyone reads. Qualitative Analysis reads all of it in one pass and reports a one-line headline plus at most five findings, ranked by how much they should change what your organization does.
Before you start
You need the org admin role, and your organization needs the Insights plan and AI features. The section sits at the foot of a skill’s assessment report (Insights → Skills, then open the skill and its assessment report), and it appears only when the instrument has open-text questions. If you do not see it, contact the LeaderFactor Solutions Team at [email protected].
Run one
- Set the filters you want first. An analysis is scoped to the view on screen.
- Scroll to Qualitative Analysis.
- Select Analyze, the button that names how many responses are in the view.
Nothing runs on its own. Opening the page or changing a filter never starts an analysis, so you only ever pay for the one you ask for. At least 5 responses are needed, and any single question with fewer than 5 is left out.
Read the findings
The headline names what is true across the responses in one line. Each finding under it names a specific behavior, decision, or moment rather than a topic, so it points at something you can act on.
Self answers and rater answers are read together rather than question by question, which is what lets a finding say where someone’s self-perception and their raters’ feedback part company. Findings carry no percentages, because a model cannot reliably tally across hundreds of answers.
Come back to it
Every run is saved with the filters that produced it, labeled with how many responses it read and when. Reopen the page with the same filters and the analysis is still there. If responses have arrived since, the section says how many, and Run again produces a fresh one. Earlier runs stay in the Analysis picker, and Show the latest returns you to the newest.
Privacy
Responses go to the model on their own, with no names attached, and a finding never quotes a response word for word. For open-text answers on a PSindex® survey, which work differently, see Read the qualitative responses.
